Hall County Financial Services Department seeks summer intern

A $1,600 grant was approved by the Hall County Board of Commissioners at Monday's work session.

The grant is part of the Georgia County Internship Program (GCIP) and was awarded through the Civic Affairs Foundation to fund an internship for the Hall County Financial Services Department.

Financial Services Director Zachary Propes says the department has done internships before, they currently have a University of North Georgia student interning in accounting and had a Georgia College and State University student help in the preparation of the budget manuals last summer, but this is the first time since he’s been there that they have accepted a grant of this nature.

The grant will fund a part-time (max of 28 hours per week) intern from March 1-September 1. Should the internship exceed the $1,673 grant, the county will be responsible for up to an additional $500.

The internship will include all facets of the Financial Services Department including research, data compilation, bank reconciliations, general accounting, grant accounting, purchasing card allocations and journal entry preparation.

The county is expected to post a job listing on the Hall County website (hallcounty.org) sometime in the near future, as well as reach out to regional colleges and universities for applicants.
