The construction project at White Street Park near Old Town Suwanee is on schedule, and should be completed in time for spring, when residents can start the planting season in the new orchard.
The construction also includes a new play area, walking trails and a pavilion.
"We've had a few weather delays, but we're about to go into a phase where we'll be installing some slides. Much of the grading is already completed. It's generally on schedule," said Marty Allen, city manager.
The park, which is billed as the largest organic community garden in Georgia, has 76 farm plots, constructed in 2010.
The work is expected to be completed by late April, just in time for growing season, said Allen.
"We want to be able to plant before it starts getting too warm," said Allen.
More information on the community garden can be found on the park's website.
