A man and woman, both from Gainesville, remained in the Hall County Jail Wednesday morning, charged with a January 15 sexual assault, authorities said.
Darryl Dewayne Johnson, 29, was booked into jail Wednesday morning on a rape charge. Taqueria Shanise Bell, 24, was booked Tuesday night on one count of aggravated sodomy.
"Johnson and Bell assaulted a 22-year-old, female victim. The assault was investigated by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Hall County Sheriff's Office," Sheriff's Lt. Scott Ware wrote in a news release. "Investigators obtained arrest warrants for Johnson for the offense of rape and Bell for aggravated sodomy."
Ware said Johnson is on probation for possession of cocaine and felony possession of marijuana.
In afternoon interview with AccessWDUN, Ware said the victim was at least acquainted with her alleged attackers.
The crime happened at a residence on Baker Road.
The case remains under investigation.
