Hoschton city council member resigns, city to hold special election

A special election is set for March 20 to fill the remaining portion of Scott Butler's term on the Hoschton City Council.

Butler stepped down at the council's December meeting due to his business travel schedule, City Clerk Wendy Wilson confirmed to AccessWDUN; his term runs through Dec. 2019.

Qualifying will run from Jan. 8-10, and potential candidates can find the necessary paperwork at Hoschton City Hall each day between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The qualifying fee is $18.

Voters who wish to cast a ballot in the special election must register by Feb. 20.

Wilson said the city is also anticipating another special election down the road, with Councilwoman Tracy Jordan expected to step down in May to make a run for Insurance Commissioner.
