Girls basketball: Buford overhauls Branch; Dawson, West Hall, Johnson, Lakeview, White each win

BUFORD — The Buford girls basketball team took round one of their season series slugfest with Flowery Branch, 58-48 on Friday in Buford.

The Lady Wolves (7-0, 2-0 8-AAAAA) trailed the Lady Falcons 18-11 after one quarter but pulled within 29-27 at the half and pulled ahead 45-41 after three quarters.

Tory Ozment scored a game-high 24 points to pace Buford while, Audrey Weiner added 18 points.

Taniyah Worth paced the Lady Falcons with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists, while Caroline Wysocki added 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Ashlee Locke also scored 10 points.

Flowery Branch will play again at 1 p.m. Monday against Ossining (New York) in the KSA Holiday Tournament in Orlando, Florida.

Buford wlll take on Grayson at 5 p.m. Saturday.


WEST HALL GIRLS 64,
HABERSHAM CENTRAL 43

Anna Mckendree poured in 37 points to lead the Lady Spartans (7-3) to a win on Friday night, while Kinsey Wilson added 8 points.

West Hall led 20-15 after the first quarter and pulled away in the second half, outscoring Habersham 36-19.

The Lady Spartans will play again at 4 p.m. Saturday against Banks County in Oakwood.

West Hall also fell to Marist 46-44 toin overtime on Thursday. Mckendree scored 24 in the loss.


DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 52,
FANNIN COUNTY 37

The Lady Tigers (5-2, 1-1 Region 7-AAA) picked up their first Region 7-AAA win on Friday.

Calli Watson scored 13 points, while Sophia D'Oliveira added 12 and Chloe Bennett had 8 for Dawson County.

The Lady Tigers travel to Forsyth Central at 4 p.m. Saturday.


JACKSON COUNTY GIRLS 50,
JOHNSON 27

Kenny Velasquez scored 10 points to pace the Lady Knights in the loss.


NORTH HALL GIRLS 58,
UNION COUNTY 36
 

Grace Hollifield scored 13 points and Ansleigh Ferguson added 10 points for the Lady Trojans (5-2, 2-1 Region 7-AAA) in the win on Friday night.

North Hall plays Johnson 4 p.m. Saturday in Oakwood. 


LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 66,
COMMERCE 21

The Lady Lions (3-4, 2-0 Region 8-A) were led by 11 points from Jackie Allen on Friday night. Maddy Towles added 10 points, while Savanna Kinsey and Tori Taylor each scored 9.


WHITE COUNTY GIRLS 77,
CHESTATEE 62

The Lady Warriors picked up a region win at home on Friday night.

Dasha Cannon paced White County with 20 points, while Naomi Crumley scored 12 and Madi Phillps 11 in the win.
