Two Gainesville men hurt in Thompson Bridge Road wreck

By B.J. Williams

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said two men suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Thompson Bridge Road Friday afternoon; the driver of the vehicle faces several charges, including DUI.

Authorities responded to the crash site at 12:51 p.m., according to an email statement from GSP.

Troopers said Casey Culbreth, 33, was traveling south on Thompson Bridge Road in a 1964 Ford Galaxy. As he attempted to negotiate a curve north of Hopewell Road, he lost control of the vehicle, veering onto the west shoulder of the roadway. From there, the vehicle ran into a ditch and overturned.

The passenger in the vehicle, Michael Martin, 30, of Gainesville, was ejected from the vehicle, according to troopers. Martin was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in critical condition.

Culbreth sustained serious injuries. In addition to DUI, he has been charged with failure to maintain lane and serious injury by vehicle.
