Road conditions deteriorating some with snow in Hall County

As Hall County moved into a winter storm warning Friday afternoon, snow and slush began accumulating on some roadways.

"The quick downpour of snow we've had and the slushy conditions on the roadways prompted them (National Weather Service) to re-evaluate that and reconsider the warning, which they've done so now," Interim Hall County Emergency Director Casey Ramsey said.

While law enforcement had starting responding to a growing number of traffic accidents in the county, Ramsey said the evening hours would be the biggest concern.

"With the slushy conditions this evening, as soon as the temperature continues to drop and when it gets dark, we're going to see some impacts where that water or any of the slush or snow is still falling," Ramsey said.

He said public works crews were already out surveying roads and treating them as necessary during the afternoon.

Ramsey urged people to stay off roads if possible as temperatures drop during the evening.
