State investigators are looking into the cause of a house fire in Jackson County that left one person dead Monday morning.
Jay Florence, the Deputy Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner for Georgia said firefighters got the call to go to the fire on Fuller Road at 7:58 a.m.
"The human remains were found inside the burned home, which investigators believe is the female occupant of the house, who was born in the 1940s," Florence said.
The victim's body has been sent to the State Crime Lab for autopsy and positive identification.
Florence said both state fire investigators and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office are working on the case. At this point, they do not know how the fire started.
