VIDEO: Year of the Quarterback -- Landis' drive, abilities leading 'Doggs ascent

Brock Landis spent most of his youth football and middle school days playing everywhere but quarterback -- not that you would know it now.

In two-plus seasons as Winder-Barrow's starting QB, Landis has developed from talented athlete to polished signal caller. And his natural athletic ability has combined with a highly-competitive nature and burning desire to succeed to help propel the Bulldoggs' into rare territory.

After helping lead Winder to back-to-back playoff appearances, Landis is pacing an attack that has the 'Doggs off to their best start to a season since 1989 (7-0, 2-0 Region 8-AAAAAA) and their first state ranking (No. 8 in Class AAAAAA) in almost as long.

A dual threat, the senior has already accounted for 1,258 yards passing and 10 touchdowns this season, while also rushing for 341 yards and 7 scores -- in an offense that is just seven points from outstripping last season's point accumulation (which happened over an 11-game campaign) and is just 45 points removed from being Winder's highest scoring offense of all time.

The rangy standout began drawing major collegiate looks over the summer, and is displaying why coach Heath Webb identified him as a player for the future as soon as he arrived on campus.
