Volleyball: North Hall defends 7-AAA crown, East Hall finishes as No. 3 seed

GAINESVILLE — North Hall defeated Greater Atlanta Christian for its second straight Area 7-AAA crown, and East Hall finished as the No. 3 seed on Thursday in tournament play in Gainesville.

The Lady Trojans, who have been ranked No. 1 in Class AAA for much of the season, completed their domination of 7-AAA in the tournament finale and will enter next week's state playoffs as a No. 1 seed.

North Hall swept GAC twice during the afternoon, 25-13, 25-22 and again 25-23, 25-9.

Area standout Lily Paschall led the Lady Trojans with 40 assists, 5 kills, 6 digs and 3 aces, while Melissa DeVerter added 18 kills, 8 blocks, 7 aces and 5 digs. Autumn Tucker also had 18 kills, 6 kills and 2 aces for North Hall, while Lena Strickland added 24 digs and an ace. Savannah Miller also had 5 kills, 1 block; Caroline Brady had 2 kills and 3 aces; Grace Hollifield had 2 kills; Madison Brock had 4 aces, 1 kill and 4 digs; and Maci Gillespie had 6 digs.

Meanwhile, the Lady Vikings (30-17) defeated Dawson County 25-16, 25-22 before falling to to Greater Atlanta Christian 25-18, 25-22.

Niyah Rucker had 2 points on serve with 2 aces, 2 digs, 5 blocks and 19 kills to help pace East Hall, while Savannah Thellman had 5 points scored on serve with 3 aces, 7 digs and 31 assists. Holly Poole had 10 points scored on serve with 3 aces, 11 digs, 1 assist and 6 kills, and Summer Lindsey had 8 points scored on serve with 1 assist and 22 digs. Tessa Rider scored 14 points on serve with 3 aces, 14 digs, 1 assist and 11 kills; Janelly Lara scored 9 points on serve with 2 aces, 2 kills and 12 digs; Macy Thomas had 6 kills and 4 blocks; and Rachel McGee also added 2 kills on the night.

The Lady Vikings play in the first round of the state tournament on Wednesday at Redan. North Hall, meanwhile, will play host to Towers in the first round.
