WINDER — Winder-Barrow took advantage of four Gainesville errors and nine hits to pound out a 10-2 victory Wednesday in the two teams' deciding Game 3 of their Region 8-AAAAAA first round series.
The win for the Lady Bulldoggs pushes them into the state playoffs. They will now take on the winner of the Habersham Central-Lanier series in a one-game showdown for the No. 3 seed in the upcoming state tournament.
Winder took the lead in the top of the first with a pair of runs but Gainesville tied it in the bottom of the inning. The Lady Bulldoggs reclaimed the lead with two runs in the top of the third and then invoked the Mercy Rule with six runs in the fifth inning.
The loss eliminated the Lady Red Elephants from playoff contention.
