LISTEN: 100 years of the Gainesville Vision Center

By Afternoon News Wrap

The Gainesville Vision Center is celebrating its 100th year of service, and has 100 years of stories and charm. The Afternoon News Wrap's Russell Brown spoke to Dr. Bill Morrison, the current owner and optometrist, about the history of the local practice and what makes the family owned business so special, in this week's "Local Business Spotlight," presented by Roberts Plumbing.

Bill Morrison, O.D., is the third owner of the Gainesville Vison Center, which was opened in 1917 by JC Morrison Sr. The practice was then passed to his son, JC Morrison, Jr before Bill took over the family practice. Bill explained how the hard times impacted the business (including the Gainesville tornado of 1936). The Vision Center is as strong today as it has ever been, which Dr. Morrison credits to the family atmosphere of the clinic and its dedication to service.
