MACON — Four northeast Georgia wrestling programs will compete for state championships on Saturday in Macon.

Buford, Jefferson, Lumpkin County and Commerce each battled their way into the respective classifications' championship matches on Friday, while Jackson County moved into the consolation bracket.

Buford edged past Union Grove in the Class AAAAA bracket, winning 30-27 to book a championship showdown against Woodland, Cartersville -- which defeated Ola in the semifinals.

In Class AAAA, Jefferson took out Woodward Academy with relative ease, 50-16. The Dragons' victory set up a mouth-watering match-up with Gilmer in the championship round. Jefferson owns 15 straight duals titles, Gilmer is a four-time defending duals champion.

Meanwhile, Lumpkin County moved into the Class AAA championship courtesy a hardfought, 34-26 win over Sonoraville. The Indians will tackle Bremen in the title match.

And in Class A, Commerce kept its quest for a fourth straight crown alive via back-to-back wins. The Tigers cruised past Mount de Sales 69-9 and then dominated Irwin County 66-12. Commerce will take on Wesleyan in Saturday's championship.

Each championship match in each class is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday in the Macon Centreplex.

In the consolation rounds, Jackson County will look to finish in third place. The Panthers will face the McNair vs Cook County winner at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. A win there would move Jackson County into the third place match, scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.
