Oakwood City Council made two decisions at their first meeting of the year Monday night.
The first was appointing Sam Evans as Mayor Pro Tem, meaning he will take over the position should anything prevent current Mayor Lamar Scroggs from fulfilling his duties. This appointment occurs annually. Evans serves Post 1 in the city.
Secondly, a rezoning request from Scroggs & Grizzel was also approved for planning office development. The site is the former Fred's Treads, at the corner of Mundy Mill Road and Interstate 985.
If all goes as planned, the site would become a Guilford Immediate Care facility.
