No. 12 UNG soccer races past Georgia College

By AccessWDUN Staff

DAHLONEGA — It didn't take long for the 12th-ranked University of North Georgia women's soccer team to get into a groove after a 12-day break between games as Jacy Ramey found the back of the next in the second minute and UNG never looked back defeating Georgia College, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at the UNG Soccer Complex. The Nighthawks move to 3-0-1 on the season with the victory and are a perfect 1-0 after winning the Peach Belt Conference opener.

Pheobe Palmer sent the perfect cross into Ramey to allow her to launch a shot from just a few yards away to give the Nighthawks the earlier lead.

Nearing the end of an eventful first half, full of possession changes and close calls on goal, Rosie Embley bent a floating corner kick into the net just over the head of Bobcat keeper Jessica Catapano in the 39th.

North Georgia remained on the offensive for most of the second half, and in the 70th won a penalty kick after a hard foul in the box. The kick taken by Rosie Embley was sent far out of the reach of the Georgia College keeper, into the top left corner of the net, extending the UNG advantage to 3-0.

Georgia College snuck onto the board in the final 30 seconds of the game with the goal from Rahliat Animashaun shooting to the far past from the corner of the box extender her shot just out of the reach of Nighthawk goalkeeper Hannah Goudy.

NOTES
- Rosie Embley scored her first two goals as a Nighthawk in the PBC opener. Embley's first collegiate goal was rare to say the least, scoring off her corner kick with a perfect bend to put it past the GC keeper.

- Hannah Goudy moves to 3-0-0 in goal this year for UNG and played her first complete 90:00 in goal during today's match.

NEXT UP
The Nighthawks will host No. 1 Columbus State at the UNG Soccer Complex on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m.
