By AccessWDUN Staff

DEMOREST — In a tough battle, the Piedmont College men's soccer team suffered a double OT loss to Emory & Henry 3-2 at Walker Athletic Complex. Though it was the Lions who jumped out to an early lead, the Wasps seemed to have an answer each time and ultimately edged out Piedmont.

The first score of the night came on a header by VICTOR MUNOZ off a free kick by GRIFFIN GILES who picked up the assist in the 33rd minute. Bringing a 1-0 lead into the half, the Lions surrendered their first goal of the night to Joel Tidman who headed it in for Emory & Henry with the assist by Zach Quest.

That score in the 56th minute knotted it up at 1-1 but the Lions weren't wasting any time regaining the lead as it was DIEGO GODINEZ scoring just over a minute later in the 57th minute giving PC the advantage. The pair were again knotted up at two as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's leading scorer Jordan Couch headed in a corner kick from Quest in the 80th minute to even the score at 2-2.

The battled continued throughout regulation and extended into overtime, but 100 minutes was not enough to decide this contest. In the second overtime period, the deciding goal came with just 37 seconds remaining as Tidman scored his second goal of the night off a corner kick to decide the contest. The Lions had a pair of shots in each overtime period but couldn't connect in the final minutes.
