Truett McConnell women take 3rd in Georgia Mountain Invitational

HELEN — The Truett McConnell women's golf team finished in third place in the Georgia Mountain Invitational hosted at Innsbruck Golf Club and Resort. Point University finished in first place with the individual champion, Courtney Lowery, also hailing from Point.

Lowery shot even-par 72 for the second consecutive day to finish at 144 on the week, 16 strokes clear of the tie for second place with Brenau's Morgan Wood and Reinhardt's Jocelyn Blair.

TMU's Ashley Blackburn was the low score for the Bears on the week, making the All-Tournament team with a two-day total of 170, good for a tie for sixth. Teagan Lovingood finished in a tie for eighth at 173 and Hannah Wall finished one stroke behind Lovingood in a tie for 11th.

The Bears shot a 693, three strokes away from a school record for two-day total. Brenau finished 20 strokes behind the Skyhawks of Point in the team standings at 684. Tennessee Wesleyan and Reinhardt University rounded out the top five.

The Bears will jump back on the course on Monday, September 19, in the first round of the Tennessee Wesleyan Fall Invitational in Athens, Tennessee.
