Toddler hospitalized after burned by boiling water in East Hall

An 18 month old child has been transported to Grady Hospital after suffering second degree burns at a home in Eastern Hall County.

Hall County Fire Captain Zach Brackett said fire crews arrived at the home in the 7200 block of Plum Creek Drive around 4 p.m.

"They reported a child that had second to third degree burns over 30 percent of her body," Brackett said.

"They determined with the severity of the child's injuries that the child needed to be airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, with consultation with Northeast Georgia Medical Center."

Brackett said initial reports indicate the child suffered second degree burns on 30 percent of its body from boiling water, describing the child's condition as serious.

However, the circumstances leading up to the burns are not known at this time. "It's all currently under investigation," Brackett said.

Hall County Fire Marshals and the Hall County Sheriff's Office are investigating, which Brackett said is standard procedure when a child is injured.
