GAINESVILLE — The Chestatee softball team scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to leap-frog Dawson County and snare an 8-7 win on Wednesday in Gainesville.
The Lady War Eagles racked up 14 hits on the day, including three for Cheyenne Roper, who also finished with 2 RBI and a double. Rebecca Eddins and Bailey Mason also each recorded doubles, while Kala Sargent 2 for 4 with an RBI had a triple. Elizabeth Eddins also went 2 for 5 with an RBI, and Georgia Patterson finished 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Rebecca Eddins pitched a complete game to get the win for the Lady War Eagles, striking out 10 Lady Tigers while allowing three earned runs -- the remaining four were unearned -- on three hits.
The two teams combined for nine errors in the contest.
