The Georgia Department of Transportation confirms the death of one person in a traffic accident on I-85 in north Gwinnett County at the start of the Monday morning rush hour.
GDOT spokeswoman Katie Strickland said a HERO unit was dispatched to the scene four miles north of Hamilton Mill Road at 5:15 a..m.
The Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit said the victim, a man, was the at-fault driver in the wreck. The other driver was injured and was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to investigators.
At this point, authorities have not released information on how the accident occurred. They said the name of those involved will not be released until relatives can be notified.
