Tennessee man arrested for trafficking meth in Lavonia

Lavonia Police arrested a Tennessee man earlier this month after locating $9,000 worth of methamphetamine in his vehicle.

Travis Shelton Courtner, 33, was charged with trafficking meth, possession of Xanax, giving a false name and date of birth and two counts of obstructing a law enforcement officer, according to a release from the North Georgia Drug Task Force.

Lavonia Police responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle that was running with no one inside and encountered Courtner in the roadway. He reportedly gave officers a false name and was arrested for providing a false name and obstruction.

The drug task force was called to the scene after officers noticed a prescription pill in plain view the vehicle. Upon further investigation, half a pound of meth was seized from the vehicle, according to the release.
