Two Gainesville men and one from Clarkesville have been named to state boards by Gov. Nathan Deal.
Justin Pressley of Gainesville was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Georgia ABLE (Achieving a Better Life Experience) Program Corporation. According to the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities website, the program's goal is to make financial security for people with disabilities a reality in the state.
Pressley is the founder and president of Access to a Better Tomorrow, Inc. He previously sat on the advisory boards for North Georgia Health Systems, the Disability Resource Center and the Atlanta chapter of the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis. Pressley was also a founding commissioner of the Georgia Brain and Spinal Injury Trust Fund Commission.
Kerry Smith, State Board of Nursing Home Administrators (reappointment)
Smith is the director of long term care at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He sits on the board of directors for the Georgia Healthcare Association. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Cindy, have two children and live in Clarkesville.
Stephen Heinen, Subsequent Injury Trust Fund Commission (reappointment)
Heinen is a risk consultant for Pritchard and Jernen. He is a past chairman of the United Way Campaign and the Challenged Child capital campaign. Heinen is also a past president of the Gainesville Jaycees. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Risk Management from the University of Georgia. Heinen and his wife, Tammy, have two children and reside in Gainesville.
