The University of North Georgia (UNG) will host a summer commencement ceremony Tuesday celebrating more than 400 graduating students and featuring an address from Dr. Victoria Hightower, assistant professor of history at UNG.
The ceremony will honor graduates of all colleges, and will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Memorial Hall Gymnasium on the university's Dahlonega Campus.
Due to anticipated attendance, tickets are required for the commencement ceremony. Students who have applied for summer graduation can pick up graduation packets, which include their designated amount of tickets, at their home campus bookstore the week before graduation. Graduates are instructed to read through all information and instructions given in the graduation packets, and should arrive 45 minutes prior to graduation to prepare and line-up for the ceremony. Graduates and guests should also allow extra time for traffic and parking when arriving for ceremonies.
Overflow seating will be available in room 382 of the Library Technology Center.
Graduates and guests also are asked to share their success via social media using #UNG16grad; posts and photos using the hashtag can be viewed before, during and after the weekend's ceremonies at ung.edu/UNG16grad.
Separate commissioning ceremonies will be held the same day for members of the Corps of Cadets entering the armed forces as second lieutenants. Individual commissioning ceremonies for 24 cadets will recognize their service and leadership, and formally mark their entry into the U.S. Armed Forces.
