City leaders in Gainesville are considering the purchase of a new water pump for Highland Drive, something they hope will increase water pressure for residents in the area.
The pump, if approved Tuesday night, would cost $380,000 and be delivered in about 16 weeks, according to city documents.
Residents in nearby homes reported lower water pressure, but the city's water department was having a hard time keeping up in the higher elevations.
They said this pump would be more efficient, and provide higher pressure to the homes nearby.
Also on the table a request for the police department to donate some of its old clothes to Good News at Noon.
The department is looking to offload 77 shirts, 63 pairs of pants and 3 knit caps, all of which will have any police department and city logos removed.
Council will give both plans a final vote Tuesday night at 5:30 at the Gainesville Justice Center on Queen City Parkway.
