Gainesville CFO to retire, take similar position in Dahlonega

The city of Gainesville will soon be looking for a new chief financial officer and administrative services director, thanks to Friday's announcement of Melody Marlowe's retirement.

Marlowe has worked for the city of Gainesville for 20 years, according to a press release, including a nearly five-month stint as the interim city manager, ahead of the hiring of current city manager, Bryan Lackey.

"Under Melody's leadership the City has prospered in many areas including finance, budget and purchasing, municipal court, city marshal, and information technologies. Her level of expertise in so many different categories will be difficult to replace. We wish her the best," Lackey said.

Marlowe's retirement is effective June 13.

"Gainesville has been an amazing place to work. Council and management have supported me every step of the way, and my coworkers are the best. A special thank you to all those who have worked in my department over the years. It has been a pleasure leading such a dedicated and loyal group of people," Marlowe said.

On June 20, Marlowe will take over as the finance director for the city of Dahlonega.
