(VIDEO) Baseball: Buford pounds out second round sweep of Bainbridge

BUFORD — The Buford offense exploded for 31 runs Wednesday in a Class AAAA second round sweep of Bainbridge at Gerald McQuiag Field.

The Wolves (27-3) took a 15-0 victory in five innings and a 16-2 win in six innings to advance to the quarterfinals.

In Game 1, Justin Glover got the win on the mound, going the distance for Buford. Dillon Lancaster with three hits led the offense. Brandon Marsh, Noah Ledford and Griffin Jolliff each had two hits for the Wolves.

In Game 2, Jolliff earned the win on the mound, allowing just two hits and no earned runs. Buford led just 1-0 going into the third. The Wolves scored four in the third, five in the fourth, and six more the fifth to invoke the 10-run Mercy Rule.

Austin Wilhite and Glover each had three hits for the Wolves.

Buford will play host to Cartersville in the third round of state. The Purple Hurricanes swept Thomson on Wednesday.
