Henry wins a Late Model thriller at 411 Motor Speedway

By Track PR

Josh Henry spun coming to the finish line after making contact with Ross White, but still managed to cross the finish line first to win the Late Model feature Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn.

White would start the night on the pole with Henry alongside. Henry would take the early lead, with White, Trevor Sise and David Clark giving chase. The caution flew for the first time on lap 11, setting up a restart that saw White and Sise battle for the lead, with Sise taking the spot.

Behind the leaders, Drew Kennedy and David Clark battled for fourth place, with Kennedy finally able to solidify the spot on lap 16.

Meanwhile, up front, Side had closed the gap on Henry. A caution on lap 23 bunched the field back up. On the restart, Sise and White again battled, with both cars coming away with damage. White was finally able to clear Sise, and set his sights on the leader.

Over the closing laps, White was able to close, and coming to the checkered flag, White got a run on the leader coming off turn four. The two made contact, sending Henry spinning, but he was still able to cross the line first for the win.

White finished in second, with Kennedy in third, Sise in fourth and Jake Henry in fifth.

In other action, after a false start in the Dwarf car feature, the race got underway with Mike Brown jumping out to the early lead, but a quick caution for Jarrett McGuire slowed the pace. On the restart, Matthew Bohannon took a look on the inside of the leader into turn one but had to fall back in line On lap three, Bohannon made his move and took over the top spot. Wesley Jones began stalking the leader, and a few laps later, made the move off turn two to take the lead.

From there, Jones held off a hard charge by Bohannon and scored the win. Brown finished in third, with McGuire in fourth and Jeffery Bohannon in fifth.

John Byers took the early lead in the Mini Stock feature, and went on to score the win. Thomas Clark finished in second, with Sam Burgess in third, Tommy Metler in fourth and Joe Myers in fifth.

Josh Stevens moved out front early in the Classic Car feature, but soon came under fire from defending division champ Justin Overton. Meanwhile, Richie Overholser moved in to make it a three car fight for the lead. On lap 11, Overton saw an opening on Stevens, but couldn’t make the pass work. Stevens would go on to score the victory, with Overton, Overholser, Eli Keck and Michael Maiden rounding out the top five.

Pole sitter Brandon Hutchinson took control of the Street Stock feature on the drop of the green, and would move away from the pack. Behind him, Pete Wright and Brad Davis gave chase, with Davis taking second on lap two. Tracy Wolfe tried to move into the fight, but would spin while trying to take third.

Back under green, Hutchinson continued to hold the lead, while David worked to hold off Wright. Hutchinson went on to score the victory, with Davis in second, Wright in third, Wolfe in fourth and Bo Allison in fifth.

Kyle Courtney set fast time in Sportsman qualifying, but saw the race go under the red flag on lap one due to a multi-car crash.

Back under green, Courtney moved to the lead, with Heath Alvey in second. After the second caution of the race flew for an incident involving Kenny Ford, Courtney would continue to hold the lead, while Phillip Thompson worked to charge his way into contention, moving his way to second. Michael Courtney appeared to have a strong third place run going until his car slowed with issues.

Up front, it was Courtney taking the lead over a charging Thompson, with Bradley Lewelling in third, Jed Emert in fourth and Zach Sise in fifth.

411 Motor Speedway returns to action on Saturday, May 26, headlined by the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, along with racing from the Sportsman, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Classic Car divisions.
