A traffic stop by Franklin County deputies on Interstate 85 Tuesday afternoon took 10 kilos of methamphetamine off the streets and landed two people in jail.
The stop occurred on the northbound side of I-85, said Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas.
Nytia Latisia Simmons, 29, of Greenville, S.C., driver of the vehicle, is arrested and charged with speeding and trafficking in methamphetamine.
Her passenger, Jimmy Morris Hallums, 38, of Easley, S.C., is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.
"The vehicle was stopped and the driver was asked consent [to search]," Thomas said. "A K-9 unit was on the stop and the K-9 alerted a positive alert on the vehicle. A total of 10 kilos of methamphetamine was found in the vehicle ... street value of over $120,000 — 10 kilos of methamphetamine that will not be on the streets of Georgia or South Carolina."
