Madden notches Southern All Star victory at Cherokee

By Series PR

GAFFNEY, S.C. - Chris Madden dominated Sunday afternoon’s Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series feature at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C. to score his 48th career series win.

The Gray Court, S.C. driver edged out Casey Roberts for the March Madness XIV victory.

Roberts, from Toccoa, Ga., started on the pole with Madden on the outside of the front row. Madden would surge to the lead coming off of turn two on the opening lap, and then set the pace for the rest of the distance.

Madden did come under fire several times from Roberts, mostly when the two raced in lap traffic. As the laps wound down, Madden was able to slip away from Roberts and the rest of the field, and he drove away to pick up the win and the $10,000 winner’s check.

Roberts held on to finish in second, with Chris Ferguson in third, Brandon Overton in fourth and Ross Bailes in fifth.

Dustin Mitchell, Johnny Pursely, Jr., Kenny Collins, Brett Hamm and Jim Rasey rounded out the top ten.

The next race for the Southern All Stars will be on Saturday, April 23 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee for the annual “Rockin’ with the Stars” event, with $5,000 on the line for the win.
