Dawson County authorities identify body found in car as missing Atlanta woman

The body discovered in an abandoned vehicle in Dawson County Thursday morning has been identified as that of a missing Atlanta woman, investigators said Friday afternoon.

Dawson County Sheriff's deputies found the body of Jillian Hudson, 29, of Atlanta, in a car at a business park behind the outlet mall, according to sheriff's Captain Tony Wooten.

Deputies got the initial call around 9:00 a.m. Thursday.  Wooten said personnel from the business park on Lumpkin Campground Road asked authorities to check out the vehicle.

"(They) said they had a vehicle that had been there for a couple of days that they knew didn't belong to anybody that worked in that area," Wooten said.  "Officers went on scene and ran the tag number, and it came back to a missing female out of Atlanta."

Wooten said the vehicle was unlocked, and when officers went inside of it, they discovered the body.

Sheriff's and district attorney's office investigators combed over the scene Thursday and have since sent the body to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for autopsy.

While Wooten said investigators think they know the cause of death, they were holding off on releasing any more details Friday.

"It's unusual to have somebody that come from another jurisdiction that's missing, ends up in your jurisdiction dead in a car, so obviously we're going to make sure we do everything we can to make sure that we're right, and if what we believe to have happened, that's why you have the autopsy going on," Wooten said.

Investigators didn't have a timeline for receiving the autopsy results.
