Officials in Toccoa investigating gunshot death

Officials aren't releasing a lot of information about a shooting death in Toccoa on Sunday.

"We did have an incident involving a gunshot wound on Morningside Drive," Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell said late Monday afternoon. "The incident is being investigated by Toccoa Police Department, the Stephens County Coroner's Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation."

Jarrell said officers were called to the home of Judy Norris, 69, at 1 p.m. Sunday.

No additional details about Norris's death have been released.

"We do not have anything much to report at this time," Jarrell said Monday afternoon. "We are awaiting results of an autopsy and other Crime Lab reports before any additional information can be released. We are hoping to have those results later in the week."

Jarrell said as soon as those results are received, officials will release more information.

He added there doesn't appear to be any danger to the public at this time.
