A prescribed fire by the U.S. Forest Service will be conducted Friday in Stephens County.
The burn will create smoke that may be visible in the surrounding counties, including Banks, Franklin, Hall, Rabun and Stephens Counties, said a release from U.S. Forest Service officials.
The burn should wrap up by 6 p.m.
The fire will reduce hazardous forest fire fuels and help improve the wildlife habitat, according to the release.
