Transportation crews are expected to block one lane of Ga. 53 West or Dawsonville Highway over Lake Lanier in Hall County over the weekend.
It's part of a $2.9 million rehabilitation project for the bridge that began last October.
The Saturday and Sunday work involves closure of the left lane as workers install scaffolding to be used in painting the bridge, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. The closure hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.
The overall rehabilitation project includes, "installation of cover plates, spall repair, installation of new bridge joints, application of a new wearing surface, repair/replacement of bearing assemblies and painting existing superstructure," a GDOT press release states.
The entire project is expected to be finished by the end of June.
