Crews make another go at McEver Road project start in South Hall

After a false start earlier this week because of weather, overhaul work on a portion of McEver Road was on track to begin Thursday.

The project, described by the county as a full depth reclamation, runs between the city limits of Oakwood and Buford.

"The project will include replacing the asphalt from just south of McEver Road's intersection with Rafe Banks Drive to Buford," county engineer Kevin McInturff said for a media release.

The road work is scheduled to last for about two months with the contractor, Stewart Brothers, primarily working between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.

McInturff said traffic will be diverted to a single lane during the work.  He also warned drivers about the possibility of loose gravel during the project.

"There will be flaggers in the area to direct traffic as well as additional law enforcement personnel to make sure the transition goes as smoothly as possible," McInturff said.

The project is a shared effort between the county and the city of Flowery Branch.
