WINDER — Gainesville girls basketball coach Brenda Hill-Gilmore appeared to be resting comfortably after being taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center on Friday at halftime of the Lady Red Elephants contest at Winder-Barrow.

"I visited with her and talked with her for about 20 minutes, and she was doing well," Gainesville athletic director Billy Kirk said of Hill-Gilmore, who fell ill during the contest -- though there was no official prognosis on the coach's condition at the time of publication.

Gainesville fell in the contest 42-32, losing a shot at a coin flip with Flowery Branch to determine the No. 1 seed for the Region 8-AAAAA tournament. The Lady Red Elephants (16-5, 12-2 Region 8-AAAAA) will now enter the competition as the No. 2 seed.

The contest was close throughout, with Gainesville leading 10-8 after the first quarter and Winder taking a 19-16 lead at the half. The Lady Bulldoggs mainatined a 24-21 edge after the third quarter.

Shikiya Brown paced Gainesville with 10 points, while Breana Fair added eight.
