Vehicle strikes, injures female pedestrian in Cleveland

CLEVELAND - An  unidentified woman was struck by a vehicle in the city of Cleveland Wednesday.  

The accident was reported just before noon at the intersection of Appalachian Trail Drive and Highway 75 North.  

Cleveland Police Officer Pete Dorsey said a 56-year-old white female was walking from Ingles north and approached the intersection. At the same time,  Dorsey said,  a young male driver pulled up to intersection on Appalachian Trail Drive  and  struck the woman.  

The woman received some visible injuries and was transported to NortheastGeorgia Medical Center by White County EMS ambulance for treatment, Dorsey said. Dorsey said he did not know the extent of injuries.  

The young male driver, who was not identified, will face charges in connection with the collision, according to Dorsey.
