GDOT seeks input on Ga. 20 improvement between Cumming, Canton

By Brian Stewart

The Georgia Department of Transportation is inviting residents to an open house Tuesday night at Otwell Middle School in Cumming to give input on the proposed improvement project along Ga. 20 between Cumming and Canton.

"State Route 20 has exceeded its capacity and multiple improvements are needed to improve mobility and enhance safety from I-575 in Cherokee County to Ga. 400 in Forsyth County," said Katie Strickland, GDOT spokeswoman, in a press release.

The open house will be held between 4 and 7 p.m.

GDOT will present its proposal for widening the roadway, and a court reporter will be on hand to record any formal comments given.

Anyone who can't make the meeting is invited to give comments online or through the mail. Any mailed comments should be sent to:

Eric Duff, State Environmental Administrator
Georgia Department of Transportation
Office of Environmental Services
16th Floor, One Georgia Center
600 West Peachtree St., NW

The comment period is open through Dec. 30.
