UNG women's soccer leads Southeast in D2CCA First Team All-Region honorees

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The University of North Georgia women's soccer team lead the Southeast Region in D2CCA First Team All-Region selections with four Nighthawks receiving the honor, along with Jacy Ramey who was named to the Second Team. The five overall selections were tied for second best in the region with Carson-Newman and Limestone, with all three schools trailing Columbus State, who received six honorees overall with three on each team.

Nighthawk midfielder Sophia Matonak is making her third consecutive appearance on the D2CCA All-Region First Team. Defender Megan Gil makes the First Team for the second consecutive year and is joined by Jessica Allen, who was named to the Second Team a season ago. Rounding out the four First Team nods for UNG was forward Rachel VanHorn, who was also honored as a D2CCA All-Region selection in her freshman campaign.

Ramey was the lone Second Team selection for North Georgia as the forward receives the honor for the second consecutive year.

The No. 20 Nighthawks will face fifth-ranked Columbus State on Friday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m., in the third round of the NCAA Tournament in Miami Shores, Florida, with the winner advancing to the Elite Eight match on Sunday.
