The Oakwood City Council approves a resolution for an intergovernmental agreement with Hall County and Flowery Branch to split the maintenance responsibilities along Thurmon Tanner Road.
Oakwood will be responsible for maintaining the section between Mundy Mill Road and H.F. Reed Industrial Parkway. This includes proper landscaping, clearing vegetation, mowing the grass and picking up litter, road kill and other debris.
Flowery Branch will be tasked with the section between the railroad crossing and Phil Niekro Boulevard, and Hall County will be in charge of the section between the railroad crossing and H.F. Reed Industrial Parkway, as well as the section between Mundy Mill Road and Atlanta Highway.
“We think it’s a good effort to show partnership between the three governments,” said Oakwood City Manager Stan Brown at the city council meeting on Monday. “But the bottom line is that we intend to see that road look better.”
Thurmon Tanner Road is an important area for future economic development, and the maintenance of the roadway is key to attracting industry to the space.
Hall County has already passed the resolution meaning Flowery Branch is the only one left to pass the resolution before it becomes official.
