Authorities have not released many details on last week's death of a Rabun County infant, but they now confirm the baby's mother has been arrested and charged in the death.
Nelly Miles, a spokeswoman with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, confirmed via email that Alma Leticia Lazara-Leor, 24, of Mountain City, was found to be responsible for the newborn infant's death. Lazara-Leor faces one count of murder.
The Rabun County Sheriff's Office requested assistance from the GBI in the case last Tuesday morning, November 8.
Miles did not say how the baby was killed, saying investigators are awaiting an autopsy report to determine the specific cause of death.
