Gainesville business leader Philip A. Wilheit, Sr. will receive a top award from Leadership Georgia this week.
Wilheit, the president of Wilheit Packing and Marketing Images, is to be honored with the J.W. Fanning Award, who was instrumental in developing the Leadership Georgia program. Leadership Georgia is an affiliate of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
Wilheit has served in a number of capacities with the both the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. Wilheit served for more than 40 years on the board of the Greater Hall County Chamber of Commerce with one year as chairman and more than 20 years on the Georgia Chamber of Commerce with one year as chairman. Currently, he is a member of Georgia Chamber Transportation Commission and the Georgia Chamber Advisory Committee on School Board Governance.
Wilheit serves on the Georgia Department of Economic Development Commission and the Commission for a New Georgia. I
Wilheit was a member of State Board of Education from 1996-1999.He also served as treasurer for Congressman Nathan Deal for 28 years and served as the Statewide Chairman of the Deal for Governor campaign.
The award will be presented on Friday at Leadership Georgia’s 7th annual gala at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.
