WINDER — On Friday night Winder-Barrow football knew that just one more win meant another run at the state playoffs.
With that in mind, the Bulldoggs decided to get the ball to Deon Williams in as many ways as possible.
Williams was everywhere in Winder's 35-28 victory over Habersham Central, rushing for 112 yards and a score, adding 71 yards receiving and rolling up 164 yards worth of kick returns, including a 91-yard touchdown blast. He also made three tackles on defense and broke up two passes. Williams' two touchdowns came at critical moments in the contest, answering Raiders scores that had pulled the visitors within a touchdown and maintained the Bulldoggs' momentum as they went on to notch a program record third straight state playoff berth.
For his efforts, Williams has been named the Locos Grill and Pub Friday Game Night Player of the Week.
A senior, Williams has played a key role throughout the 2016 campaign, and you can be sure that he will continue to do so as the Bulldoggs face their final regular season contest and get set for the postseason.
