Oakwood Police believe suspect targeted older women

Oakwood Police say a 48-year-old Atlanta man visited special events and fund raisers in an effort to meet and exploit older women.

"In his social media website, (it's) shown that all he does is befriend female victims in the age of 55 and older, pretty much.  That's all he's associating with is the unsuspecting victims," Oakwood Police Sgt. Danny Sridej said Friday afternoon.

Keith Faulks was booked into the Hall County Jail on Tuesday afternoon on charges of exploiting an elderly person and misdemeanor theft by taking.  He allegedly conned a 70-year-old woman out of her laptop computer in early 2015 in Oakwood.

Sridej said Faulks got himself invited to the victim's residence where he allegedly told her he'd get money for a new laptop she had but didn't use.  Sridej said Faulks disappeared with it.  She called police.

Sridej said family members should look out for older loved ones.

"For a 48-year-old man to come in contact with a 70-year-old lady (and) come on to her, that is a flag that someone should recognize, rather than just kind of accept that advance or trust them without checking their background," Sridej said.

Faulks remained in the Hall County Jail Friday afternoon.
