Pickens County authorities have arrested two people in the attempted robbery and shooting of a third individual early Thursday morning.

Deputies with the county Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a location on Lovelady Road in Ball Ground, where, according to a social media post from the Sheriff's Office, gunshots had reportedly been fired.

Upon arrival at the scene near Yellow Creek Road, deputies located a male victim whose head had been grazed bu a shotgun pellet. The victim was treated for his injuries at the scene and did not require hospitalization.

A preliminary investigation revealed that two suspects, later identified as Coda Joiner of Dawsonville and Jefferey Shumate of Cumming, "had attempted to rob the victim at gun point." The suspects were located shortly thereafter with the assistance of "K-9 and Uniform Patrol officers."

Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the local Adult Detention Center, where they remained at last report. Joiner and Shumate face multiple undisclosed charges in the case.

Authorities said the alleged shooting remains under investigation and that more information will be released at a later date.
