CLEVELAND — The Truett McConnell volleyball team went toe-to-toe with Life University Thursday night in the Bear Cave, but ultimately fell in three sets, 25-20, 25-21, 26-24. The Bears are now 12-13 overall.

TMU and Life traded points early on, but the Running Eagles went on a run to take, at most, a five-point lead. Trailing 17-14, the Bears fought back behind Hannah Simpson, Natalie Hogle and Harris Anne Walker to take an 18-17 lead. Ultimately, Life scored the final five points of the set and eight of the final 10 to win the set.

After Life controlled the entire second set, the Bears answered back in the third, leading the entire set up to 23-20. Life went on to score six of the final seven points to earn the three-set win.

Simpson led the Bears in kills and digs with seven and 13, respectively. Walker led TMU in blocks with one solo and three assists.

TMU will jump back into conference play with a tri-match at Montreat Saturday where the Bears will take on the Cavaliers and Bluefield.
