Classes to resume Thursday at White County High School, Ninth Grade Academy

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

CLEVELAND — Classes will resume Thursday at White County High School and White County Ninth Grade Academy.

White County School officials say water pressure, in an excessive amount, is what prompted the canceling of classes at both schools Wednesday.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeff Wilson said a defective pressure regulator on the main water line at the high school allowed the water pressure to build up to around 100 psi.

A student noticed something wrong late Tuesday afternoon and notified school officials, Wilson said.

According to Wilson, when maintenance workers were checking the bathrooms at the school a custodian was injured when a commode exploded from the pressure.

Wilson said the injured employee required stitches for a cut. Maintenance officials had to order a new pressure valve and that was installed Wednesday afternoon.
