Buford pounds out 56-14 defeat of Cedar Shoals

ATHENS — Cedar Shoals picked off a pass and then scored on a fake field goal to take a 7-0 lead over Buford on Friday in Athens.

It was all Wolves from there.

Second-ranked Buford responded with eight straight touchdowns to run away with a 56-14 win. 

The Wolves (6-1, 3-0 Region 8-AAAAA) rolled up 448 total yards and yielded just 32 total yards and one first down to the Jaguars (3-4, 0-3).

Sophomore Derrian Brown led Buford with 86 yards rushing and a touchdown on eight carries. Christian Turner also rushed eight times for 63 yards and two touchdowns, while Anthony Grant added 67 yards and two scores on eight carries, as Buford finished with 342 yards rushing. TD Roof also rushed for two scores, while Davin Bryant also scored in the third quarter to round out Buford's offensive onslaught.

Wolves quarterback Mic Roof finished the game 6 of 10 for 103 yards.

Buford will travel to face Walnut Grove next week.
