Turley smashes records as QB leads Mill Creek to win over Peachtree Ridge

By AccessWDUN Staff

HOSCHTON — Mill Creek quarterback Cameron Turley has been a steady performer all season -- but on Friday night he left "steady" in the rearview mirror, opting for a historic performance in the Hawks' 31-12 defeat of Peachtree Ridge.

Turley smashed two program records and equaled another during the victory in Hoschton, as the signal caller finished 18 of 29 for 347 yards and four touchcowns.

The 347 yards set a new one-game mark for Mill Creek, while his four scoring passes also equaled the one-game record. The touchdowns also vaulted him into first place in career scoring passes, as he finished the night with 37 -- surpassing graduated standouts Daniel David and John Russ, who each have 35.

Edmond Graham proved Turley's top target on the night, as the receiver snagged six passes for 126 yards and a score, while Ace Williams also netted four receptions for 126 yards and a score. Williams' 60-yard touchdown reception gave the top-ranked Hawks (8-0, 4-0 Region 6-AAAAAAA) breathing room at 21-6 in the third quarter. Adrian Jackson also helped Mill Creek maintain control with a 40-yard scoring reception in the fourth quarter.

Mitch McEnaney opened the scoring, hauling in a seven-yard touchdown pass from Turley -- only to watch Peachtree Ridge connect on a 73-yard touchdown to pull within 7-6 after a blocked point after attempt. Mill Creek responded with a 60-yard touchdown hook-up between Turley and Graham to make it 14-6 at the half.

Mill Creek finished the night 434 total yards, and while its defense did yield 311 total yards, the Hawks did throw the Lions for a minus-16 rushing total for the night.

Mill Creek will play host to Mountain View next Friday in its final home game of the season.
