NeSmith Late Model Winternationals opener rained out

By Roby Helm

OCALA, Fla. - Rain has washed out the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series opener for the Bubba’s Army Winternationals and Round 2 of the RockAuto.com Winter Shootout for the NeSmith Late Models Thursday at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla.

The weather forecast for Friday and Saturday looks good and those races are set to go on as scheduled.

On Friday afternoon, Bubba Raceway Park will host a practice session beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series 50-lap $2,500-to-win event.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and Bubba Raceway Park will team up to give race fans a Saturday Double-Header with two big races in one day and night. The 50-lap $3,000-to-win Round 3 of the RockAuto.com Winter Shootout will take place on Saturday afternoon.

At the completion of the daytime race on Saturday, the grandstand will be cleared and the track reworked for the nighttime show, the rescheduled 11th Annual Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race going for 100 laps and paying $10,000-to-win.

The NeSmith Late Models will pick up where they left off in November with a pair of B-Main races to fill starting positions 17 through 24 for the main event. The first 16 starting spots were determined on November 20, 2016 through four Heat Races with the top four finishers in each heat race earning a spot in the big show.
