The Georgia State Patrol has released the names of those involved in a Jackson County wreck that killed two, including a one year old, Friday morning.

The accident happened at 11:45 a.m. on Commerce Road at Mauldin Road, said Jackson County EMS Director Steve Nichols.

The driver, James R. McDaniel II, 30, of Maysville, lost control of his vehicle, a 1999 Ford Mustang, while attempting to negotiate a curve on a wet roadway, causing it to rotate counterclockwise into the southbound lane where it struck a 2000 Ford Econoline van.

"It appeared to be a t-bone accident, like one of the vehicles might have lost control and the second vehicle actually struck it in the passenger door," Nichols said.

McDaniel was ejected from the vehicle and was fatally injured. The passenger of the vehicle, Lily Ann McDaniel, one year old, also suffered a fatal injury in the crash.

The driver of the van, Robert J Glass, 68, of Jefferson, was injured and transported to Athens Regional Medical Center.

The scene was cleared at 3:45 p.m. The Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation.
